The Role of g-forces
When the bike is in motion, a water bottle experiences three types of force that can cause it to eject from its cage – Gravity Force, Ground Force, and Grip Force. Since the strength of these forces differ by location on a bike, a stand-alone, do-it-all cage will do poorly in retaining a bottle, especially if the same type of cage is used throughout the bike.
